Baldies Bikers kit up

Keen on road cycling?  If you have access to a road bike, enjoy having a yak and a coffee, and can cover 50km without putting extra stress on our health system, then MOCA’s Baldies Bikers could be for you!

Cycling has to be one of the most inclusive activities there is – easy on those sports-scarred joints, great for cardio-vascular fitness, and socially inclusive.  Everyone can find their level.

Aimed at all genders, all ages, novices and experienced roadies, we’ll put together a Baldies calendar to encourage you to get out of the house and in a bunch on a regular basis.

If you want to get involved, or know of someone who can do with some encouragement, please contact Anthony McIntosh at jikatourism@optusnet.com.au or mobile 0417 586 664.

Kev Boyd 1965-2010

Vale Kev Boyd

From Martin McIntosh, President of the Marcellin Old Collegians Cricket Club:

Kevin Boyd, former MOCCC Secretary, long serving and outstanding committee member, second XI Captain and club leader died suddenly yesterday.  The loss of any member of our community is always felt keenly, the loss of Kevin will be immeasurable.

As an avid and talented golfer, Kevin was also heavily involved at the Greenacres G.C. and successfully ran his own financial services business.

Clearly Kevin was a man who enjoyed being part of a community and ensured that he made valuable and memorable contributions to them wherever possible.  All those who knew Kevin, benefited and continue to benefit from the generosity of those contributions.

Thoughts and prayers are with Marie, Bob, Terry, Libby and the kids and all of those close to the Boyd family at this time.

Pat O’Callaghan and mates riding 7000km across West Africa for Charity

Old Collegian Pat O’Callaghan (2004), his brother James and friend Sean Connell are planning a major bicycle trek in a good cause.

The ride will traverse approximately 7000km, starting in the South of Spain and ending in Ghana and is being undertaken to support Y generation against poverty (Y-Gap) projects in Ghana. Y-Gap is a young organisation who is currently supporting several sustainable development and poverty alleviation projects globally. In Ghana they support a safe house to help prevent child trafficking in the fishing industry. Here is a link to Y-gaps website if you wish to investigate further: http://ygap.com.au/ghana.
