MOCCC Premiers 2008 09

Congratulations to John Dinneen and the MOCCC for their outstanding season.  All three of the club’s senior sides made their grade respective grand finals, with the Firxt and Thrid XI’s winning the Flag.  The Second XI were honorable runnders up.  Read more at the Club’s website

MOCCC Wins Flag

Captain Coach John Dinneen lead from the front in a wonderful Premiership win for the Old Boys cricket club.  John hit a stunning 157 to set up a comprehensive victory against Mont Albert.  See the club website to read more.

Marcellin farewells Mark Merry

After eight years at the helm, it was time to farewell Mark.  In a moving ceremony, a whole school assembley in St Marcellin’s Hall, Champagnat Education Director Br John McMahon acknwoledged Mark’s outstanding contribution to Marcellin College.

Old Boy Zaharakis Sinks Pies

For the Pies supporters lamenting their Anzac Day loss at the weekend, they can at least take some comfort that it was a Marcellin Old Boy David Zaharakis who kicked the winning goal. Not bad for a boy in only his fourth match. Well done David. See the Age story

Marcellin to farewell Mark Merry and welcome to Mark Murphy


College Principal Mr Mark Merry will be farewelled at a special College Assembly on Friday 20th March 2009.  Old Collegians are warmly invited.  St Marcellin’s Hall, commencing at 2.00pm.  Guests to be seated by 1.50pm, with afternoon to be served afterward.  Please contact the college on 9851 1589 to RSVP for catering purposes.

Mark will take up the Principal position at Yarra Valley Grammar starting Term 2, 2009.  During his eight year tenure at Marcellin, Mark has lead the way on many significant improvements for the College and the College Community.  Marcellin’s outstanding VCE results alone are testament to his leadership.  He has been a wonderful supporter of the Old Collegians and is going to be sorely missed.  We wish him and Yarra Valley well for the future.  Read more from the College Website

Mark MurphyWe also welcome Mr Mark Murphy as the new College Principal.  Mark is currently Deputy Principal at St Joseph’s College, Ferntree Gully. He has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Theology from the Yarra Theological Union and a Post Graduate Diploma of Educational Studies – Student Welfare. Mark and his family are active members of the St Luke’s Parish, Wantirna. We congratulate Mark on his appointment and welcome him and his family into the College community and our Marist network. We are confident Mark will build on the wonderful leadership shown by Mark Merry since 2001.
