After a few lean seasons, Captain Coach John Dinneen has lead the club’s to First and Third XI Premierships with the Seconds Runners up in their grade. All three teams will be promoted up a grade for next season, and with the development of their junior program things are looking very healthy. Visit the Marcellin Old Collegians Cricket Club website
Peter ‘Stretch’ Toohey
The Old Collegians community was shocked by the sudden passing of Peter Toohey. Peter was a fantastic supporter of the Old Collegians, especially his beloved football club. A man larger than life itself, will be sorely missed by the Old Collegians community. Our sympathies are extended to the Toohey family.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Darcy, Rex and Avril. After leaving Marcellin in 1980, he pursued his profession in motor vehicle engineering & design working with both Nissan and GMH; at the latter he pioneered the use of 3D modeling in their car design. Willem Rath
The Old Collegians extend their deepest sympathies to the Rath family for the passing of Willem. As you can see from the notice (see below) kindly forwarded by Paul Rath, Willem was the father and husband of a great family. All of his eight sons attended Marcellin – a record that is not likely to be broken in the foreseeable future! The Rath family have always been great supporters of the Marcellin community. Willem’s wife Maureen passed away two years ago.

John ‘Chubba’ Dinneen appointed MOCCC Coach
Old Collegian legend, John ‘Chubba’ Dinneen has been appointed the Captain Coach of the Marcellin Old Collegians Cricket Club for Season 2008/09. John officially returns to the club following his 12 month ‘retirement’ from cricket.
Official Club Announcement It is with tremendous pleasure that we announce that the Committee has unanimously supported the recommendation of the coaching sub-committee to appoint John Dinneen as MOCCC captain-coach for the 2008/09 (and the following season, body and Committee approval allowing). John’s record as a twelve-time Club Champion and ECA Dunstan Medal winner suggests that he is impeccably qualified for the role. John is very excited about the Club’s prospects for the year ahead and can’t wait to get stuck into the next phase of the ‘rebuilding’ process, which is player retention/recruitment. The new committee is certain that we could not have found a better fit for the Club at this stage of its history; quite possibly our most important professional club appointment to date.
Pictured below are John (left) with his brother Daniel; on football umpiring duties at Marcellin during the AGS Winter Season.
