‘Working’ The Play Musical

Marcellin College Community Association presents ‘WORKING’ the play musical.  Fro the creators of ‘Wicked’ the musical, ‘Working’ explores the hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average worker – everyone has a story.

The music is stunning, the stories compelling – it makes for a wonderful night of musical theatre.  Door prices & giveaways.  On of the roles is performed by Marcellin Old Collegian, Darren Mort. (pictured left with Dad – the distinction of being the first Old Boy Father Son combination!)

The Marcellin bi-annual publication the ‘Virtute’ is now available to download.  This copy was published at the end of 2009 and covers all the Marcellin news and events for the period between July and December 2009.  For all our readers who previously received a copy in the mail, please note there was not a printed copy this time around, its a download only.

New Marcellin Principal Mr Mark Murphy was formally welcomed into the Marist Community this week at a Commissioning Mass at the Marcellin Chapel.  Marist Provincial Br Julian Casey and Chaplain Fr John Carnie lead the formalities as Mark’s family and members of the Marcellin community enjoyed a wonderful celebration of the College.  A special highlight was the music of the Marcellin College Chapel Choir.

After a magnificent teaching career spanning 38 years at Marcellin, at both Camberwell & Bulleen, Chris Roberts is retiring. Well actually he is taking long service leave and heading off to the Northern Territory for a holiday and will retire officially at the end of the year. We wish Chris the very best on his holiday and on behalf the generations of Old Collegians who have had the privilege of his teaching, thank you.

Marcellin to farewell Mark Merry and welcome to Mark Murphy


College Principal Mr Mark Merry will be farewelled at a special College Assembly on Friday 20th March 2009.  Old Collegians are warmly invited.  St Marcellin’s Hall, commencing at 2.00pm.  Guests to be seated by 1.50pm, with afternoon to be served afterward.  Please contact the college on 9851 1589 to RSVP for catering purposes.

Mark will take up the Principal position at Yarra Valley Grammar starting Term 2, 2009.  During his eight year tenure at Marcellin, Mark has lead the way on many significant improvements for the College and the College Community.  Marcellin’s outstanding VCE results alone are testament to his leadership.  He has been a wonderful supporter of the Old Collegians and is going to be sorely missed.  We wish him and Yarra Valley well for the future.  Read more from the College Website

Mark MurphyWe also welcome Mr Mark Murphy as the new College Principal.  Mark is currently Deputy Principal at St Joseph’s College, Ferntree Gully. He has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Theology from the Yarra Theological Union and a Post Graduate Diploma of Educational Studies – Student Welfare. Mark and his family are active members of the St Luke’s Parish, Wantirna. We congratulate Mark on his appointment and welcome him and his family into the College community and our Marist network. We are confident Mark will build on the wonderful leadership shown by Mark Merry since 2001.

Leukaemia Foundation Fundraiser

As you may be aware Leukaemia affects tens of thousands of Australians every year, including Marcellin’s own member of staff Peter Schlitz
We would like to invite the Marcellin Old Collegians community to be part of the up coming Trivia Night to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation on Thursday 23rd October.
We are currently asking for donations of prize items for the many activities and auctions on the evening.
