Congratulations to of our musicians & actors who participated in our West side Story production. There were many who contributed in various ways – lead characters, chorus parts, back stage crew and playing in the orchestra. Thank you for contribution to the success of the show and for your continuing contribution and loyalty to your ensembles within the Marcellin Music Program.
Term 3 Music Program:
Next term will be our major performance season for the year. It will be a busy but exciting and enjoyable time culminating in the College Music Concert on Tuesday, 9 September.
All Marcellin musicians’ fridges should be adorned with the calendar we have included in this week’s Eagle.
Year 7 Musicians and the Honours Band:
Over the next few weeks all Year 7 musicians will receive information about the 2008 Honours Ensembles. The Honours String Ensemble and Band are open to all Year 7 Musicians who have just embarked on their playing careers. In past years we have had about 80 musicians in our Honours program. Let’s see if we can get up to 100+ in 2008.
Mr Brendan Hains – Marcellin Guitar Tutor
It is with great regret that we announce that Brendan Hains has resigned from the Marcellin College Music program.
Brendan has given over 15 years of outstanding service to Marcellin music students. He has taught with an inspirational degree of passion and commitment. Brendan’s rigorous and highly effective teaching methods have equipped all of his students with extraordinarily high levels of musicianship. The results achieved by his students in both ANZCA and VCE examinations have consistently been among the best in Victoria.
In consultation with Brendan, we have approached two excellent musicians who are past students of Marcellin to carry on the tradition so soundly established by him. Beginning this week, Mr James Hodson will be looking after our guitar students and Mr Lachlan Mason will teach our bass guitarists. I am very confident James and Lachlan will proudly and capably continue Brendan’s work within our program.
I have conveyed the best wishes and grateful thanks of all of the Marcellin community to Brendan. I know that I speak for all in wishing him a healthy, productive and contented future both in his professional teaching and performing career and in his personal life.
