But it is far more than just a football club. More importantly, the Bald Eagles are a group dedicated to a common cause – health, wellbeing and fitness. Affiliated with Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club and training and playing at Marcellin College in Bulleen, the Bald Eagles offer the camaraderie associated with a sporting club in a fun and relaxed environment. Unlike many Superules teams, we do not draw players from any one club or competition and are a healthy mix of former students, players, work colleagues, business associates, family and friends.  WHY IS HEALTH & FITNESS IMPORTANT?As we grow older, work and family commitments make it harder to maintain a fitness regime. However statistics show that regular exercise in combination with a balanced diet can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and numerous other health issues. The Bald Eagles offer an environment that promotes this healthy lifestyle and as we say, what better way to keep fit than by running around kicking a footy and having a laugh with a great bunch of blokes?  WHAT IS SUPERULES?Listed below are answers to the frequently asked questions about Superules. Hopefully this covers the bulk of any queries you may have about how the Superules game is played: ·         35 and over – must turn 35 in the calendar year·         Slightly modified rules§         1 up in ruck§         no raised knees in ruck or marking contests§         no shirtfronts·         Season commences in early April and concludes in mid August (though season may be shortened again due to drought impact on playing fields).·         11 games in the season (see above)·         Play every second Sunday afternoon commencing at 2:15PM·         20 min quarters, no time on.·         8 allowed on the bench·         Played in good spirit – we all have to work on Monday!!·         Professional field umpires from the DVFL·         Strict red and yellow card system for inappropriate/illegal actions or behaviour Also, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all players, a St Johns Ambulance is present at all home and away games. .  WHAT ARE THE TRAINING COMMITMENTS?The Bald Eagles understand the heavy work and family commitments of the individual, therefore all training is voluntary. Having said that, as part of our commitment to health and wellbeing and to facilitate an adequate fitness base to play, you are encouraged to participate in any or all of the following training sessions: In Season (Feb – Aug):·         Every Thursday night with the MOCFC Club XVIII commencing at 6:30PM·         Every second Sunday morning (alternate to game days) commencing at 8:30AM Out of Season (Sep – Jan):·         Every Sunday morning commencing at 8:30AM·         Every Wednesday night with MOCFC Seniors (from mid-Nov 07) commencing at 6:00PM Whilst our foremost objective is to provide an adequate fitness base to enable you to play at a satisfactory level, there is also a heavy emphasis on providing a fun and varied program of activities. Most training sessions will involve a combination of ball work, game day tactics, running and the famous Kenny Steps (you’ll have to come to training to find out about this one). President Bernie Crimmins (and resident health professional), provides regular email updates on training, games, health & fitness tips and social gatherings. Other activities such as weights, boxing, summer team triathlons and over 35’s basketball are also on offer from time to time to further broaden the selection. Partners and children are also welcome to attend our Sunday morning training sessions and enjoy the pristine Marcellin College playing fields for exercise, play or simply a bit of fresh air.  WHAT DO THE BALD EAGLES OFFER FAMILIES & SUPPORTERS?At the Bald Eagles we pride ourselves on maintaining an environment that encourages the participation of family, friends and children. At our home games we regularly have fun activities such as jumping castles and face painting to entertain the kids and relieve the burden on the partners of players. Kid-friendly food and drinks are also made available to ensure the kids have a ball. The continued support and involvement of our family and supporter community remains a critical element of the Bald Eagles charter. Football clubs are renowned for social functions and the Bald Eagles are no different.  However we understand that your weekend time is precious and therefore prefer to keep official social gatherings to a manageable two per year – one mid-season and an end-of-season presentation night. As with any football club, post-training and post-match gatherings are an integral part of the activity and something that is enjoyed by all.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATIONThe Bald Eagles have benefited from the support of Marcellin College for a number of years now. In return, we are constantly seeking opportunities to contribute to the school and to the greater community in a philanthropic manner. The annual Men’s Health Night is an excellent example of supporting a worthy cause (Remar) and contributing to the wellbeing of students, players and their families and friends.  FINANCIAL COMMITMENTAs with any club, there are various costs incurred throughout the season, requiring a subscription of $250 per player.
